Platform Network Community Guidelines

Last updated: 29 April 2026

Our network is built on three core principles: you can connect safely, share knowledge freely, and build community on your own terms. We stand behind free expression and user choice, but that should not come at the cost of anyone’s safety, dignity, or our shared Islamic values. The standards below explain how we maintain that balance transparently, so you always know where you stand.

Guiding Principles

The Community Guidelines below reflect how we keep all platforms in our network usable and respectful for everyone:

  • Freedom with Responsibility – Express opinions, identities, and creativity freely, but not in ways that incite violence, harassment, child sexual abuse, hate, or exploitation.
  • Prioritise Safety – We remove any content that could cause physical danger, psychological harm, or intimidation.
  • Least-Restrictive, Transparent Action – We apply the smallest effective measure (label → removal → suspension → deactivation) and always give the user the right to appeal.
  • User Control – We give members tools to hide, block, report, and even label their own content, letting each person shape their own experience while respecting baseline safety rules.
  • Legal & Baseline Compliance – Certain rules are required by law and by our commitment to a safe platform; they protect the community from violent speech, harassment, fraud, spam, sexual exploitation, CSAM, and threats.
  • Islamic Ethics as a Foundation – Our guidelines are rooted in Islamic principles. Content must align with positive, ethical, and halal-compatible values. Content promoting gambling, alcohol, non-halal food or lifestyle offerings, or any other clearly prohibited (haram) activities is not allowed across our network.

How These Guidelines Work

These Community Guidelines (“Guidelines”) apply to everyone who uses any platform in our network, including users, creators, contributors, advertisers, and anyone else accessing the services (collectively, “Users”). By using any of our services, you agree to follow these Guidelines, along with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We may remove content, limit features, restrict access, suspend accounts, or permanently terminate accounts that violate these Guidelines, our policies, or applicable law.

General Standards of Conduct

Users are responsible for the content they create, upload, post, stream, or otherwise make available on our platforms (“Content”). We do not endorse user Content and disclaim liability to the maximum extent permitted by law. Content involving hate speech, harassment, sexual exploitation, violence, or credible threats and attacks may be removed, and accounts responsible for such conduct may be suspended or permanently banned.

When using any platform in our network, you agree to:

  • Respect the rights, dignity, and safety of others;
  • Provide truthful and accurate information;
  • Avoid behavior that harms the platform or other users; and
  • Follow applicable laws.

Free Expression and Public Interest

We recognise and respect the importance of political discussion, journalism, and human-rights reporting. Content discussing governments, armed conflicts, elections, or political movements will not be removed simply because it is controversial or critical, as long as it does not violate these Guidelines. Moderation decisions are based on conduct and rule violations, not political viewpoints.

Harassment and Abusive Conduct

We don’t allow content that promotes violence, celebrates harm, or incites hostility toward individuals or groups. Accounts engaging in abusive behavior may be suspended or permanently terminated. Harassment and abusive behavior are strictly prohibited. This includes: repeated unwanted contact; targeted harassment or bullying; coordinated harassment campaigns; and attempts to intimidate, shame, or silence others.

Hate Speech and Discrimination

We don’t allow content that attacks, dehumanises, threatens, or promotes discrimination against individuals or groups based on protected characteristics. This includes slurs, supremacist ideology, and calls for segregation or exclusion. Violations may result in immediate and permanent removal from the platform.

Protected characteristics include, but are not limited to: race or ethnicity; national origin; religion; disability or serious medical condition; gender or gender identity; sexual orientation; age; migration status; or veteran status.

Violence and Dangerous Activities

We recognise our users need to share graphic content documenting human rights abuses, war crimes, or newsworthy events; therefore, we allow this content to be shared with appropriate warnings. Users may not organise or coordinate campaigns intended to disrupt elections, civic participation, or democratic processes.

You may not post content that: threatens or promotes violence; provides instructions for harming others; coordinates attacks on the platform; glorifies extremist or terrorist organisations; or encourages dangerous activities likely to cause serious injury or death.

Self-Harm and Suicide

We don’t allow any content that encourages, glorifies, or instructs self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or other self-destructive behavior. Content seeking support or discussing recovery or raising awareness may be allowed in context. When appropriate, we may provide crisis support resources.

Sexual Content and Nudity

Our platforms are not for pornography or sexually explicit material. We don’t allow sexual content, and users who publish such content will face immediate account termination and referral to appropriate authorities when applicable. Limited non-graphic nudity in artistic, documentary, or educational contexts may be allowed on a case-by-case basis. The following are prohibited across our network: explicit sexual acts; graphic sexual content; sexual services solicitation; links to sexual services platforms; fetish content intended for sexual arousal; non-consensual intimate imagery; or sexually explicit deepfakes.

Child Safety

We are committed to protecting children and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for child exploitation. Suspected child exploitation will be reported in accordance with applicable law, including to any government authorities as required. Accordingly, users may not: create, share, or distribute sexual content involving minors; attempt to groom minors; engage in sexually inappropriate communications with minors; engage in sextortion, trafficking, or exploitation; or livestream abusive content involving minors.

Animal Exploitation

We don’t allow any content that shows animal abuse, torture, fighting, staged rescues, sexualisation, or wildlife exploitation.

Misinformation and Deceptive Practices

We may remove, label, or reduce the visibility of misleading content. You may not share false or misleading information that could cause real-world harm. This includes: harmful medical misinformation; impersonation of public officials; manipulation of civic or electoral processes; or deceptive synthetic media intended to mislead others.

Authenticity and Impersonation

Parody or commentary accounts are allowed but have to clearly disclose their nature. Content that knowingly spreads demonstrably false information likely to cause imminent harm may be removed. Users must represent themselves honestly. The following are not allowed: impersonating individuals, organisations, brands, or public figures; creating fake accounts to deceive others; or manipulating engagement or trends through coordinated inauthentic activity.

AI-Generated and Synthetic Media

We value authentic, human-created content. We discourage the use of AI to generate posts and believe our users deserve a platform free from synthetic media. We allow AI-generated content only if it follows these Guidelines and applicable law. Users should clearly disclose when content has been created or significantly altered using artificial intelligence. We may label AI-generated content when necessary and may remove synthetic media that poses a risk of harm or deception. Users may not use synthetic media to: impersonate real individuals without disclosure; fabricate real-world events; or create deceptive deepfakes intended to mislead.

Privacy and Personal Information

Users may share publicly available information and engage with platform data in ways that are authorised and consistent with applicable terms of use. Users may not attempt hacking, unauthorised access, credential abuse, or misuse of platform data, and must not engage in doxxing or stalking. Private or personally identifiable information about others must not be shared without consent. This includes: home addresses; personal phone numbers; financial information; government identification numbers; or private communications.

Illegal Activities

Our platforms may not be used to facilitate illegal activity. Content shared for legitimate journalism, documentation, or human-rights reporting may be reviewed with contextual consideration. This includes: fraud or scams; distribution or promotion of illegal drugs; sale of stolen goods; money laundering; controlling or coercive behaviour; human trafficking; unlawful immigration offences; handling or concealing proceeds of crime; sale or promotion of knives or other offensive weapons; foreign interference offences; hacking services; or promotion of terrorist organisations.

Scams and Financial Misconduct

We don’t allow scams and financial misconduct, or fraudulent fundraising on our platforms. Accounts involved in financial misconduct may be permanently terminated. Users may not engage in deceptive financial practices, including: investment scams; pump-and-dump schemes; pyramid schemes; phishing attempts; fake giveaways; romance scams; false sponsorship claims; or fraudulent fundraising.

Spam and Platform Abuse

We may remove, restrict features, or suspend accounts involved in platform abuse. You may not abuse our platforms through: repetitive promotional content; unsolicited bulk messaging; manipulation of hashtags or trending systems; submitting reports, notices, or complaints about content or users that you know to be unfounded or made in bad faith; unauthorised automation tools; scraping platform data; attempts to disrupt platform functionality; or creation of bot accounts.

Intellectual Property

We respond to valid intellectual property complaints in accordance with applicable law. You must have the legal right to share the content you post. The following are prohibited: uploading copyrighted material without permission; reposting others’ content without authorisation; selling counterfeit goods; or misuse of trademarks.

Advertising and Disclosures

We ask our users to disclose sponsored or promotional content and comply with applicable advertising and consumer protection laws. Users are responsible for ensuring endorsements and promotional statements are truthful and not misleading.

Regulated Goods and Services

Users may not promote or sell regulated goods or services in violation of applicable law, including: firearms; tobacco products; prescription drugs; unlicensed financial products; or unlicensed or illegal gambling services, and gambling targeting minors.

Platform Security

Users may not attempt to: access restricted areas of the platform; reverse engineer the platform; exploit vulnerabilities; bypass moderation systems; or extract platform data without authorisation.

Age Requirements

Users must be at least 16 years old to use any of our platforms. Accounts that misrepresent age may be removed.

Enforcement

Repeated or severe violations may result in immediate and permanent account removal. We may enforce these Guidelines at our discretion. Enforcement actions may include: content removal; warnings; temporary suspension; permanent account termination; or disabling monetisation features.

Reporting and Appeals

Users can report violations through in-app reporting tools or support channels. If content is removed or an account is restricted, the affected user may request a review through the appeals process by contacting [email protected]. We may uphold, modify, or reverse enforcement decisions after review.

Updates to These Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines from time to time. Continued use of any platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Guidelines.

Platform-Specific Additions

The core guidelines above apply equally across our entire network. The following sections describe additional expectations for each individual platform.

Sahafiun.com (Community & Content Platform)

Sahafiun is a platform for sharing news, opinions, and user-generated content. In addition to the main guidelines, the following rules apply:

  • Content Authenticity: Users must clearly distinguish between fact, opinion, and satire. Misleading headlines or deliberately decontextualized content is prohibited.
  • Originality Credit: When reposting content created by others, users must provide proper attribution to the original creator or source.
  • No Clickbait: Headlines and thumbnails must accurately represent the linked content. Sensationalized or misleading titles designed solely to generate clicks are not allowed.
  • Discussion Quality: Comments and replies must contribute meaningfully to the discussion. Low-effort, purely disruptive, or repetitive posts may be removed.

Ummahevents.org (Islamic Events Aggregator for Singapore)

Ummahevents is a dedicated hub for discovering and promoting Islamic events in Singapore. Users and event organisers must adhere to the following additional guidelines:

  • Singapore-Focused Content: All events posted must be physically located within Singapore or offered as online events accessible to Singapore-based participants.
  • Islamic Nature of Events: Every listed event must be consistent with Islamic teachings and values. Events involving gambling, alcohol, non-halal food, music (where considered non-permissible), free-mixing without segregation, or any other activity contrary to Shariah principles are strictly forbidden.
  • Proper Event Classification: Organisers must accurately categorize events as “Islamic Classes,” “Seminars,” “Talks,” “Social Gatherings,” “Fundraisers,” or “Family Days.” Misclassification to attract unintended audiences is prohibited.
  • Speaker & Organiser Verification: Events featuring external speakers or third-party organisers must provide verifiable credentials or endorsements from recognized Islamic authorities or mosques in Singapore. Anonymous or unverifiable organisers may be subject to heightened scrutiny.
  • No Duplicate Listings: The same event may not be posted more than once. Organisers should update the original listing if details change, rather than creating new posts.
  • Transparent Pricing: Any fees, ticket prices, or suggested donations must be clearly stated in the event description. Hidden costs or misleading “free” claims with mandatory on-site charges are prohibited.
  • Respect for Existing Events: Listings that directly copy or closely mimic another organiser’s unique event name, description, or branding without permission or clear differentiation are considered misleading and may be removed.
  • Prohibition of Commercial Dominance: While commercial events are permitted, the platform is intended primarily for community-benefit activities. Organisers posting predominantly commercial or promotional content may be limited.
  • Reporting Inaccurate Events: Users who attend an event and find it misrepresented or in violation of these guidelines are encouraged to report it using the “Flag This Event” button.
  • Compliance with Singapore Laws: All events must comply with Singapore’s laws, including but not limited to the Administration of Muslim Law Act, the Public Order Act, and any venue-specific regulations. Organisers are responsible for obtaining necessary permits for public gatherings.
  • Moderation of Event Comments: The comments section under each event is for inquiries and constructive discussion related to that event. Off-topic comments, personal attacks, or spam will be removed.
  • No Event Hijacking: Users may not use the comment section of another organiser’s event to promote their own competing event.
  • Inactive Events Pruning: Events that have passed their stated end date may be automatically archived or removed after a grace period to keep the platform current.
