Prime Video, the popular video streaming service, has announced that the highly acclaimed Singaporean film ‘Ajoomma’ will be exclusively available on Prime Video in Singapore from April 13. Directed by He Shuming, the film is the first official Singaporean-Korean co-production and is produced by Anthony Chen, a Golden Horse and Cannes Film Festival award winner. The film follows the journey of a middle-aged woman, Bee Hwa, portrayed by Hong Huifang, who embarks on a solo trip to South Korea and meets a young tour guide and an elderly security guard, played by Kang Hyung Suk and Jung Dong-Hwan, respectively.
‘Ajoomma’ has received critical acclaim and has been selected by the Singapore Film Commission as the nation’s entry to the 95th Academy Awards in the Best International Film category. The film has also received four nominations at the 59th Golden Horse Awards and won “Best Screenplay” at the QCinema International Film Festival and the “Audience Award for Best Film” at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
