How Supabase’s ISO 27001 Certification Protects Your Event Cards on Ummah Events

We have important news about the safety and integrity of your data on Ummah Events.

As a platform dedicated to serving the Muslim community with a unified calendar of events, we collect event cards: locations, dates, descriptions, and your personal preferences. You trust us with this information. We take that responsibility seriously.

That is why we want to share a significant development from our core infrastructure partner, Supabase. Supabase is now officially ISO 27001 certified. This is a major milestone for data security, and it directly benefits every single Ummah Events user.

What is ISO 27001 anyway?

ISO 27001 is an international standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). In plain language, it is a rigorous, audited framework that requires companies to identify risks, implement controls, and continuously monitor their security posture.

Unlike self-reported checklists or simple encryption claims, ISO 27001 certification comes only after a qualified, external auditor examines the company’s policies, procedures, and technical controls. The auditor tests everything: access management, incident response, vendor oversight, and physical data center security. The certificate is valid for three years, but surveillance audits occur annually. If security controls fail, the certificate can be revoked. It is a serious, ongoing commitment.

What does this mean for your event cards?

Supabase provides the underlying infrastructure for Ummah Events. Their platform runs our database, authentication, and file storage for all event cards. Their ISO 27001 certification covers the entire Supabase service: Database, Auth, Storage, Realtime, and the Data API.

Because Ummah Events is built on this certified foundation, your data inherits the following protections:

  • Data integrity: The information on your event cards cannot be altered or corrupted by unauthorized actors. What you save is what remains.
  • Controlled access: Only the right people (you, event organizers, and our system administrators with strict permissions) can view or modify data. Supabase’s certified controls enforce this at the infrastructure layer.
  • Continuous risk assessment: Supabase must proactively identify security gaps, from software vulnerabilities to insider threats. They are required to fix those gaps before they become incidents.
  • Third-party verification: You no longer have to take our word for it. An independent auditor has verified that Supabase meets the same security standard used by banks, hospitals, and government agencies worldwide.

Why we chose Supabase (and why certification matters)

When we built Ummah Events, we evaluated several backend providers. We selected Supabase not only for its real-time capabilities and developer experience but also for its commitment to security. They already supported SOC2 and HIPAA compliance for customers handling sensitive health records. Adding ISO 27001 certification was the next logical step.

For our community, this certification serves as proof. Proof that we are not cutting corners on data safety. Proof that your event cards are stored on infrastructure that has been independently audited against a global benchmark. Proof that when you share an upcoming lecture, a community iftar, or a youth gathering, that information remains intact and private.

Our transparency pledge

Ummah Events is currently pursuing its own independent security roadmap. While we are not yet ISO 27001 certified as a company, we believe in complete transparency about how we protect you. That means telling you exactly who we rely on and what credentials they hold.

Supabase’s ISO 27001 certification is a cornerstone of that promise. You can read the official announcement from Supabase here:

In summary

Your data on Ummah Events is protected by infrastructure that meets the ISO 27001 standard. This is not a marketing slogan; it is a verified, audited, and continuously monitored reality. You can create event cards, browse local gatherings, and connect with the Muslim community knowing that security and integrity are built into the very foundation of our platform.

Thank you for trusting Ummah Events. We will continue to raise the bar for data safety on your behalf.
